June - Summer Delights, Agate Earrings and Something for Dad and YOU!

The longer days and beautiful sunshine brings much delight into

our lives!  Trips, outings with friends and families are always exciting to ponder and realize.  

I love to travel and search out gemstones for my customers and

bring new items into my studio to work with.  One of my frequent places in the city of Toronto, is Cherry Beach.  An oasis in the heart of the city, where you can stroll along the shores of Lake Ontario where time stands still for a moment.  Leisurely pursuits, people strolling along the beach, with excited pet children eager run in the 'off leash section'.    Children making sandcastles, laughing playing, a picnic on the beach.

This is when I love to take my 'studio' outside and create.

With aromas of freshly cooked burgers and fries, cold or hot 

drinks for the Greek vendor makes this a special time of year 

for all.  Seagulls flying in formation looking for the odd french fry dropped by a child as it lands on the sand for their picking! 

It's also time to think of graduation and Father's Day around the corner.
I love the old time piece, those fob watches that grandfather used to wear are becoming
in vogue again to my delight.

The clock face is beautifully surrounded in gold leaf scroll work with a circular black back ground.

 The second circle is the actual clock face: with delicate dots marking the hours, with a sweeping second hand.


To change the time or active the quartz movement simply lift up the small screw mechanism at the bottom of the

We also have a more contemporary line too, which is in a sky blue face (my favorite with a matching suede cord).   The face is bright and welcoming, easy to read

Something for her!  Like the freshness of the summer foliage, whites dot the horizon on the beach with coolness!

Such was the inspiration for my new Agate White earrings
with sterling silver ear wires, as I imagined the waves rolling into the shore!  Fresh and clean, works brilliantly in any
summer outfit.

shape and no two are the same.

Cloisonné is an ancient technique for decorating metalwork objects, in recent centuries using vitreous enamel, and in older periods also inlays of cut gemstones, glass, and other materials. The resulting objects can also be called cloisonné. The decoration is formed by first adding compartments (cloisons in French to the metal object by soldering or adhering silver or gold wires or thin strips placed on their edges). Artisans: Taking the Care of the Soul in Niagara-on-the Lake

Hello Everyone!


Well we are enjoying the cooler days in August now.

I recently had the opportunity to visit Niagara-on-the Lake for a quick over night stay.

As artisans we are always creating and working to make that project into reality, for our for our clients, friends or family alike.

We often need to have a 'break' for our souls to remain in harmony with ourselves; to bring rekindle that reviving energy.  From time to time we need to 'honour' that by being good to ourselves.  A very wise nun said to me once "In order to be a good servant we must be a good servant to ourselves". That ultimately means taking care of body, mind and spirit, listening innately to that voice within often referred to the intuition.    Artisan's come from a broad spectrum of genres, whether we define ourselves as: jewellers, photography, writers, poets or somewhere in between. We often call this intuition, and women need to pay particular attention to this, I'm speaking from first hand experience..

We (my friends and I) I decided to escape for a couple of days to the picturesque area known as Niagara-on-the Lake. We stayed at a delightful B&B "La Toscana di Carlotta" a known as the."Burns House one of the oldest homes in Niagara-on-the-Lake, whose deed dates back to 1793".  http://www.latoscanadicarlotta.com
Here you experience all the elements: hospitality, charming ambient surroundings, culinary delights, that is so wonderful for the soul. To take this one step further, do drop into the main town and visit the best Italian Gelato here: http://www.gelatodicarlotta.com/find-your-flavour/ .  I choose the dark chocolate orange, an array of fabulous characteristic of a fine wine, dancing on the palate, with the squeal of delight you often visited as a delight as a child ("Unbearable Sweetness").   We also visited a couple of wineries, that rounded our our stay with high notes of pleasure. http://www.colaneriwines.com/ .
